Woman stabbed during domestic dispute
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an April 10 incident in which a 19-year-old woman was stabbed in the hip with scissors during a domestic dispute.
According to a police report, the woman, who is 16 weeks pregnant, had been in an argument with a 20-yearold man when she was stabbed. The woman told police the man also kicked her in the stomach. Police said the woman was treated at Upstate Carolina Medical Center following the incident and that they obtained photos of the stab wound. No charges had been reported as of Tuesday.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating the burglary of an East Buford Street church.
According to an incident report, someone broke into two offices at Dunton United Methodist Church sometime between May 10 and May 11. There were no signs of forced entry, police said. The offices were rummaged through but nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
A copper thief or thieves recently targeted a Chesnee Highway cemetery.
According to reports from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, one woman reported the theft of a copper vase from her brother's grave. The theft occurred sometime between April 1 and May 11. Another woman reported the theft of a copper vase from her husband's grave. That theft occurred sometime between May 9 and May 11. The value of the vases is unknown.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported a shooting Saturday.
A 30-year-old Burnt Gin Road man told police he was jumped by about six male subjects and that he was beaten in the head and face. During the incident, the man said he was shot in his right foot. According to a police report, the victim would not provide police with names or a location of the incident.
A 20-year-old Gaffney woman claimed she was the victim of a group assault early May 11 at a West Birnie Street bar.
According to a police report, the woman claimed she was grabbed by another woman at Smitty's Bar at about 3:15 a.m. and thrown to the floor. She claimed she then was kicked and beaten repeatedly by a group of women. Police said the victim sustained a swollen eye.
A North Gate Road man fell victim to a strongarm robbery early May 10 near King and Carlisle streets.
According to a police report, the victim allegedly was approached by a 30-yearold man who lives in Connecticut Village Apartments and was struck in the face with a black-colored handgun. The robber took the man's Verizon camera phone and $225 in cash, according to a police report.
A vacant rental property in Gaffney sustained about $1,250 in damage recently when thieves targeted its copper pipes.
The thefts occurred at the North Granard Street home sometime between April 17 and May 9, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.
A bag of tools stolen from a truck parked in a West Floyd Baker Boulevard shopping center lot May 10 was found in a pawn shop May 12.
According to reports from the Gaffney Police Department, the tool bag owned by Curtis Electric Inc. was stolen sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on May 10 while the truck was parked near Belk Department Store. The bag included a cordless drill, a flashlight, batteries and other tools.
The items subsequently were found in a West Frederick Street pawn shop and police learned they were pawned by a 26-year-old Shelby, N.C., woman. No charges had been reported as of Tuesday.
