Sorority installs officers at Founder's Day dinner

Xi Alpha Delta of Beta Sigma Phi held its monthly meeting May 5 at the home of member Rebecca Robbs. Thirteen members were present.

After the opening ritual, Libby Reed, president, called the meeting to order. Members answered the Greek roll call and Patty Greene read the minutes of the April meeting that were approved as read. Reed asked for reports from officers and all committees.

For the April service project, members donated items to Magnolia's of Gaffney for bingo prizes. For the May service project, a donation was made to buy fans for those who need them during the summer.

Articles were given to Billie Taylor for the scrapbook and Margaret Smith had ordered new programs.

Montez Harvey reviewed Article Nine of the chapter's by-laws. Members completed the 2007-2008 Chapter Yardstick that will be sent to international of the chapter rating. After the business session concluded, each member discussed a song that is memorable to them.

The program, presented by Libby Reed, was "The Power of Color." There was a discussion about what different colors represent. Red implies courage; yellow is vision; blue is humility; green is fellowship; and orange is loyalty.

After the program, three rituals were held - the Golden Circle for Ruby Travers, the Exemplar for Libby Reed and the Legacy for Nora Reed. Following the rituals, refreshments were provided by the hostess.

The next social will be a cookout on June 6 at 6 p.m. at the home of Ruth Ann Ohlsen.

New officers were installed at the chapter's Founder's Day dinner on April 28. They are Patty Greene, president; Libby Reed, vice president; Ruth Ann Ohlsen, secretary; and Shirley Turner, treasurer.

The theme for the 2008-2009 year will be "Rekindle the Flame of Sisterhood." Also at the dinner, Ruth Ann Ohlsen was voted Woman of the Year.
