Daughter of deceased Blacksburg resident to graduate from Walnut Creek Campus

Alonna B. Lee will graduate from Walnut Creek Campus on May 22, 2008, during 7 p.m. commencement exercises at 7 Flags Event Center in Clive, Iowa.

Lee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Van Wagenen of West Des Moines, Iowa, and the late Timmy D. Lee who lived in Blacksburg. Her maternal grandparents are Lona B. Sweatt of Bennettsville and the late Namon B. Sweatt. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John A. Van Wagenen of Baltimore, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Lee of Wallace, S.C., and the late Shirley M. Law. Her paternal great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson of Stacy, N.C. She has two sisters, Ashley B. Lee and Colleen B. Van Wagenen, both of the home.

Her future plans are to attend Des Moines Area Community College and transfer to Drake University or the University of Iowa and major in English. Her desire is to be an author and illustrator.

Her mother is the former Loretta Lynn Sweatt of Bennettsville.
