Woman's year-old cat mutliated An Anthony Street woman reported to police a case of cruelty to animals after finding her year-old cat had been mutilated May 10. According to a report from Gaffney Police Department, the woman said she found her cat dead on a neighboring property. The cat had sustained a 12-inch cut. Police said they could not find the location where the animal could have been injured. The cat was buried in the woman's yard. A man taken into custody after an alleged domestic dispute was charged with a malicious damage offense after he allegedly damaged the door of a Cherokee County Sheriff's Office cruiser. According to an incident report, Gabriel J. Gregory, 26, of Upper Deal Street in Blacksburg, allegedly became upset following his arrest May 15 following a domestic dispute and began kicking the rear passenger side door of a police vehicle. He allegedly kicked the back window out and damaged the door frame and door panel, according to a police report, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage to the countyowned vehicle. The Gaffney Police Department is investigating a recent incident in which a juvenile pistol-whipped another juvenile on North Limestone Street. According to an incident report, a 17-year-old male was leaving a North Limestone Street business with friends when another juvenile, possibly 16 years old, took a small handgun and struck the 17-year-old in the left side of his head. The victim was bleeding from above his left ear. A 26-year-old North Limestone Street man sustained facial fractures while being assaulted by a group of men outside a North Petty Street business early May 17. The man told officers with the Gaffney Police Department he went outside of Peggy's Club and was assaulted by four to six men who struck him with a bottle, fists and kicks. Police said the left side of the man's face and his left eye were very swollen and that he had abrasions on his forehead and arm. He was treated at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. - Tim Gulla |
