Payton Leeann Mitchell

BLACKSBURG - Payton Leeann Mitchell, 3 weeks, of 710 Burnt Mill Road died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at her home.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of Billy Joe Mitchell and Brittany Lee Whisnant, both of the home.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Amy Michelle Stanley of Blacksburg; her paternal greatgrandmother, Myrtle Woody Mitchell of Lincolnton, N.C.; her maternal great-grandfather, Garland Dixon and stepgreat grandmother, Kathy Hegge Dixon, of Lawndale, N.C.; her maternal greatgrandmother, Cathy Wise, and step-great-grandfather, Alan Wise, of St. Louis, Mo.; her maternal great-great-grandmother, Ocie Miller of Icard, N.C.; and her maternal greatgreat grandmother, Christene Dixon, of Lincolnton.

She was preceded in death by her step-grandfather, Christopher Stanley; her grandfather, Ricky Allan Whisnant; her paternal grandparents, Homer Eugene and Teresa Dianne Vickers Mitchell; her paternal greatgrandparents, Frank and Doris Jean Vickers; and her paternal great-grandfather, John Crocket Mitchell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, from 7-8 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens, conducted by Pastor James Chambers .

Tyler Moore and Billy Childers will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Payton Leeann Mitchell Burial Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary, P.O. Box 428, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

The family will be at home of Amy Stanley, 769 Burnt Mill Road, Blacksburg.
