Samuel ("Sam") Berry

Samuel Don ("Sam") Berry, 20, of Picher, Okla., died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Picher from injuries received in a tornado that swept through the town.

Mr. Berry was born June 27, 1987, in Scottsburg, Ind., to Daniel Brandon and Christine Patel. He had lived in the Picher area since April, moving from South Carolina. He graduated from Tulsa Welding School in December, 2007, and served in South Korea with the U.S. Army Military Police Unit until he was recently discharged. He had just begun his inactive reserve status.

Mr. Berry married Tracy Dawn Garrison in 2007 and she preceded him in death on the same date, May 10, 2008.

Surviving are an 8-month old son, Lucas Don Berry, of Picher; mother, Christine (Berry) Patel of Miami, Okla; father and stepmother, Daniel (Bub) and Michelle Brandon of Picher; stepfather, Roger Patel of Gaffney; two brothers, Emmanuel Berry and Dylan Brandon, both of Miami, Okla.; a sister, Amaris Patel of Miami, Okla; maternal grandmother, Billie Smith of Picher; maternal grandfather and his wife, Don and Lenore Berry of Gaffney; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Sally Brandon of Picher; aunts, Donna Lowe, Angela Brandon and Donna Brandon; and uncles, Billy Berry and Jeremiah Berry.

Mr. Berry was very proud of his host of friends, relatives and cousins.

Pallbearers were Emmanuel Berry, Michael Waters, Jeremy Bunce, Billy Berry, Joshua Brandon and Brandon McKibben. Interment was in Baxter Springs Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
