Indians' new 'no-huddle' a work in progress
The Gaffney High coaching staff is in no hurry to install its new nohuddle offense during spring practice. "We are taking it slow," Gaffney football coach Phil Strickland said. "It's a simple offense once they grasp it." Strickland said a lack of depth along the offensive line has been a factor in moving slowly to install the new offense. Don Manning, who is projected to start at offensive guard, is still recovering from an injury and hasn't participated in spring drills. He is expected to be ready by fall practice, Strickland said. The move to the no-huddle will allow the Indians to counter the new defensive trends. "Defenses were sometimes dictating what we were doing," Strickland said. The Indians have four more practice sessions before the end of spring drills. The Indians will practice today and Thursday before concluding spring drills next Wednesday. "Everything else has gone well," Strickland said. |
