Single-gender programs earn high praise

     HEALTH FAIR HELPERS - The Senior Centers of Cherokee County sponsored a Senior Expo/Health Fair recently at the Gaffney center. Among the volunteers helping were Dr. Donnie Padgett and Dr. Clyde Thomas. Dr. Padgett is director of missions for the Broad River Baptist Association and Dr. Thomas is pastor of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Both are members of the Senior Centers' board of directors.       Amanda McCluney, a student at Blacksburg High School, has been chosen to be a student ambassador with People to People. She will participate in a 20-day trip July 7- 27 through Europe.       The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the burglary of a Shelby Highway, Blacksburg home sometime between the evening of May 15 and early morning of May 16. The burglar(s) forced entry through a back door and stole a 36-inch Vizio television valued at about $750. Door damage is estimated at $150.
