One Gaffney Board of Public Works commissioner wants to keep his job.

Incumbent District 3 commissioner Elijah Inabinette submitted his petition packet to city officials this week. The 2-week filing period concludes Thursday, May 29, at noon.

The other incumbent, Joe Dean Knuckles, has yet to return his petition packet to city officials. Knuckles and Inabinette are the only two to request a petition packet.

To qualify for the Aug. 26 election, candidates must obtain 100 signatures from voters who are registered to vote in a city precinct.

The candidates also must complete and return a statement of economic interest to city officials.

Candidates for mayor and city council can begin filing for the general election Friday, May 30. Incumbents Dennis Ramsey, Billy Love and Wayne Ramsey have said they will seek re-election. Mayor Henry Jolly has yet to officially announce his intentions, but he has indicated he will seek another term.
