Blacksburg resident among new troopers
Michael A. Rollins A Blacksburg resident is among 67 new troopers who graduated May 16 from the 86th South Carolina Highway Patrol class.
Trooper Michael A. Rollins, 24, has been assigned to York County.
Graduates of the Patrol class underwent 19 weeks of intensive training, including nine weeks of training by the Criminal Justice Academy and the remainder by Highway Patrol Training staff, honing their skills in collision investigation and traffic enforcement.
Col. Bill Hitchens, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, spoke at the graduation ceremony, which was held at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia.
