POLICE REPORTS
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the burglary of a Shelby Highway, Blacksburg home sometime between the evening of May 15 and early morning of May 16.
The burglar(s) forced entry through a back door and stole a 36-inch Vizio television valued at about $750. Door damage is estimated at $150. Police reported they found several muddy footprints that they photographed for evidence.
A single-axle utility trailer was reported stolen from a Hamrick Street driveway sometime between May 14 and May 15.
The trailer is black and measures 6 feet by 10 feet, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The owner told police it had a bent fender on its right side. The trailer is valued at about $800.
A Limestone College coach is missing a 37-inch television following a weekend break-in.
Sometime between the evening of May 16 and morning of May 17, someone forced open an office door at Limestone College and stole a 37-inch Vizio television belonging to the college's basketball coach, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department. The television is valued at $800 and the office door sustained about $200 in damage.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry on the exterior doors of the building.
Four firearms were among the items stolen from an East Floyd Baker Boulevard home during a recent burglary, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.
The break-in occurred sometime between the evening of May 14 and afternoon of May 16. Police were told the burglar(s) ate food from the refrigerator and ransacked the home, ultimately stealing a Marlin .30-caliber rifle, a .22 caliber rifle and pistol, and a shotgun, as well as some jewelry and money. The firearms are valued at $750. Police said two storage buildings on the property also were entered, but it was unclear if anything had been taken from them.
Three vehicles parked inside a garage impound yard at Pryor and Logan streets were broken into sometime between May 15 and May 16.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the thief or thieves took more than $1,700 in tools, $200 in miscellaneous items and caused $300 in window damage. The vehicles broken into include a Ford F-350 truck owned by a Gardner Road man, a Cadillac sedan owned by a Hetty Hill Street man and a Ford Explorer owned by a Meadow Wood Drive woman. All of the vehicles were parked in the lot of Performance Automotive.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported two recent burglaries involving the theft of fishing tackle.
More than $700 in fishing tackle was reported stolen from a North Limestone
NEE DD & OOPP EE RR AATT EE DD Street property following the burglary of a storage shed. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the shed was broken into sometime between the mornings of May 15 and May 16. Among the items stolen were a Shimano fishing rod, a Quantum fishing rod, an Abu Garcia fishing rod, two tackle boxes worth at least $500 and a circular saw.
A second burglary involving fishing tackle occurred sometime between May 18 and May 19 on Carson Drive, the sheriff's office reported. An estimated $1,500 in fishing tackle, including rods and reels of various makes, was stolen from a utility building.
The Gaffney Police Department reported the theft of more than $2,700 in outdoor equipment, tools and mechanics gear from a Foster Road property sometime between April 28 and May 17.
Among the items taken were a 14-foot john boat, a stainless steel cooking pot with single burner, six carp fishing rods with bait casting reels, three standard fishing rods, a cherry picker and a mechanic's creeper, a red-colored car jack and a red-colored bench grinder, multiple hand tools and a Coleman lantern.
A Union Highway resident told police someone tried to break into their home May 17.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone pulled the screens off a window in an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry, causing about $60 in damage.
A Sloan Road property owner is missing a recliner and some traffic signal equipment when a passing thief made a quick grab.
According to an incident report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the items were stolen by the driver of a gray truck towing a white camper. The stolen items are valued at about $950.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a May 18 incident in which a 56-year-old woman claims a gun was pointed at her.
According to a report, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Possum Trot Road.
A Mooresboro, N.C., man filed a stolen vehicle report after his broken-down truck was taken from Buck Shoals Road on May 18.
According to an incident report, the 1999 Dodge Ram crew cab truck broke down about a half-mile from the North Carolina border. The vehicle was taken from the roadside sometime between 4 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. The truck is green and has a fiberglass bed cover. It is valued at $6,200.
A Beech Street woman reported the theft of a pistol and $200 cash on May 18.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, the .25 caliber gun of unknown make and the cash were in her coat. The woman provided police with a possible suspect, but no arrests had been reported as of May 19.
A Green River Road resident told police someone jacked up his Corvette and stole some parts, including a catalytic converter valued at $500.
The theft occurred sometime between May 16 and May 17, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The gas line on the vehicle also had been cut.
Two suspects trying to break into a Blacksburg business early May 20 caused about $2,000 in damage.
According to a report at the the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the suspects apparently tried to gain entry by breaking the glass out of the door to Hickory Point, on East Cherokee Street, with a compressed air tank, such as those used for carbon dioxide.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the May 19 burglary of a storage building on Old Chester Road in Blacksburg.
A thief or thieves took a Poulan chain saw with a 16- inch blade valued at $200.
A 2008 Dodge Charger was reported stolen from a Pleasant School Road property sometime between the evening of May 19 and morning of May 20.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle is black and its owner said it had damage on its left front fender. It also is missing its left side mirror. The vehicle is valued at $26,000.
