Thanks to everyone who helped with bowling tourney

Dear Editor:

The City of Gaffney Fire Department recently held the Hero's Bowling Tournament at Westlane Bowl on April 26. The tournament was held to raise funds for the Cherokee County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The several hundred dollars that were raised will be used to assist Cherokee County residents who become victims of house fires.

I want to recognize the following businesses for their support of our efforts to raise funds for the American Red Cross: Aaron's Sales and Leasing; American Community Bank; Applebee's; Belk of Gaffney; Brown Packing Co.; Bruster's Ice Cream; The Clock Restaurant; Corinth Baptist Church Youth Family; Domino's Pizza; First Piedmont Federal Savings & Loan; Gamestop; Nestle Frozen Food Company; Prestige Brake & Alignment; Prime Outlets of Gaffney; Sanders Bros. Inc.; State Farm Insurance - Bud Kelly, Agent; Wachovia Bank; Westlane Bowl and Debbie Wright and staff; White Column Funeral Service; Wishes Family Travel; and Zaxby's.

Thanks again to those local businesses that sponsored the event and all of those who participated. The tournament was deemed a success and plans are already underway for a bigger and better Hero's Bowling Tournament next year. Sincerely, Nathan Ellis Fire Chief City of Gaffney
