AAUW will meet June 9

The Gaffney Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will have a luncheon meeting Monday, June 9, at noon at the House of Pizza on Frederick Street.

The program will be presented by Shellie Wylie, director of the Cherokee County American Red Cross, and Joan Wood, director of Senior Centers of Cherokee County. The two organizations are spearheading the development of a health and safety carnival for young women to take place next year. They are in the process of developing partnerships with other organizations that would be interested in working with the project. The event will include hands-on activities for girls dealing with all kinds of safety and health-related issues.

AAUW's main emphasis is education and equity for women. Anyone with either an associate or a baccalaureate degree is eligible for membership in AAUW. For meeting or membership information, contact the membership chairman at 489- 0826 or the college liaison at 488-8288.
