City police conduct series of checkpoints

Thursday's high temperatures gave Gaffney Police Department reason to pause a series of safety checkpoints on city streets but Police Chief John O'Donald promises more are planned. Daisy Elaise Elliott, 80, of 949 Old Post Road ,went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Startex, she was the wife of Francis L. Elliott and daughter of the late David Lowery and Floy McElvey Lowery. Mrs. Elliott was retired from Oxford Industries of Gaffney and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. More...
They should have their mouths washed out with soap
Did your parents ever wash your mouth out with soap when you were little? I am not sure how common mouth soap washing is in households with small children today. I think this is a good practice for curbing the trend towards overuse of bad language that has become an epidemic in today's society. More...
