Mary Gaffney Knuckles Education Foundation to give $500 scholarship
Long-time educator always encouraged young people to study hard and never give up
      The Mary Gaffney Knuckles Education Foundation is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating Blacksburg or Gaffney high school senior for the college fall term. Monetary gifts were made in Mrs. Knuckles' memory at her passing in November, 2007.

She's fed up with co-worker's criticism
      Dear Annie: My co-worker "Shelley" is constantly making belittling comments about me. Since she transferred to my department, she has said I look terrible in pink, my hair color is greenish and my body lotion is not to her liking. She even bought me another lotion she "approved" of. She said when I dress in the morning, I should keep her opinions in mind. I was livid.

      BLACKSBURG - Vocalist and harpist Deborah Brinson will present a "Songs of the Celtic" concert on Saturday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Iron City Place banquet hall. Brinson will perform harp and vocal arrangements of songs from Ireland and Scotland.

Clemson Extension to hold Creeks, Critters and Children 4-H Summer Camp June 14-18
      Creeks, critters, canoeing, bug hunting, water chemistry experiments, creative arts and fishing are all part of the 4-H summer fun. Clemson Extension Service, Soil and Water Conservation District and USC-Upstate Watershed Ecology Center will be holding their eighth annual 4-H2O Pontoon Classroom Camp at Lake Bowen on Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18, from 9 a.m.

      The Shady Grove Praise Singers will celebrate their 29th anniversary with a workshop and a Joyful Praise celebration. Tami Spann, a singer with Donald Lawrence's Tri-City Singers, will teach music from The Finale CD during the Joyful Praise workshop at the church on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Rev. Morrow to preach Sunday at East Gaffney
      The Rev. M.B. ("Bobby") Morrow III will be preaching Sunday, June 8, at 6 p.m. at East Gaffney Baptist Church, where his father is serving as interim pastor. Rev. Morrow is pastor of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte and next month will begin his fourth year of service there.
