Post 109 bats generate only 2 hits in 4-0 loss
      David Haselden and Post 28 delivered a message on Wednesday - they'll be hard to beat. Baffling the Post 109 hitters with late movement and sharp curves, Haselden allowed just two hits and struck out eight over eight innings as Spartanburg beat homestanding Post 109, 4-0, in a matchup of the top two teams from last season.

Gaffney junior legion bounces back to sweep Chester
      In a doubleheader loss to York Tuesday, Post 109 junior team's pitchers couldn't throw strikes. That all changed against Chester on Thursday. Joey Copeland allowed just five hits and Corey Crissone tossed a four hitter and gave up just one walk to lead Post 109 to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Chester, 12-2 and 14-4.

LC baseball player garners top honors
      Limestone College designated hitter Adam McSwain of Fallston, N.C. was named a Third-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Another Limestone baseball player, outfielder Josh Izokovic, was one of only nine players to receive the national Golden Glove award for fielding excellence.

Panther WR happy about new offense
      CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Steve Smith split wide right Thursday while his old buddy, Muhsin Muhammad, and fellow newcomer, D.J. Hackett, lined up as receivers on the other side. Smith looked over and saw Jake Delhomme, back from elbow surgery, under center. Delhomme was behind a mammoth, new-look offensive line that included jumbo rookie Jeff Otah.
