Flowers Family Bluegrass Band will perform June 14 at Mt. Sinai Church in Shelby

The Broad River Opry, featuring the Flowers Family Bluegrass Band, will be held Saturday, June 14, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Family Life Center in Shelby. The show will include traditional bluegrass, gospel and gospel bluegrass.

Pure Harmony and the Mt. Sinai Ensemble will also take the stage. There will be several special guests and special entertainment for children.

The Flowers Family hails from Mt. Holly, N.C., and recently received airtime on The Keith Larson Show on WBT Radio. The group features a broad range of musicians, including a nine-yearold mandolin player and a 13- year-old fiddle player. Alana Flowers, 19, recently won second place in the banjo competition at Merlefest.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by calling 704-482- 5871 or at Putnam Distributors in Patterson Springs, Turner Tucking in Boiling Springs, N.C., Walter Norville Carpets in Shelby, Kings Mountain Auto Supply and Lawndale Auto Supply.

Concessions will be sold, including hot dogs and pizza, beginning at 6 p.m., when doors open. The show starts at 7 p.m. Seating is general admission.
