Olive Floyd Peterson

Olive Floyd Peterson, 92, of 232 W. 9th St., passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her residence. Widow of Benjamin Theodore Peterson, she was born in Kingstree to the late James Nathan and the late Caroline Scurry Floyd. Mrs. Peterson was a member of Elm Street Church of God and a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Peterson was one of 13 children. She is survived by two sons, Frankie and Vernon Peterson, both of Gaffney; a daughter, Patsy Bridges of Gaffney; two sisters, Margie Harvey and Verline Stewart, both of Gaffney; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by a son, James Nathan Peterson; three daughters, Roxanne Stockert, Linda McCraw Trivette and Debbie Peterson; four brothers, Buck Floyd, Johnny Floyd, Pete Floyd and Curtis Floyd; and three sisters, Mae Herlong, Doris Childers and Claire Chamberlain. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 10, from 2-2:45 p.m. and the service followed at 3 p.m. with Dr. Jim McClure officiating. Both the visitation and service were in the chapel at Shuford Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family is at the residence.
