BLACKSBURG - Isiah Pete Blakney Jr., 59, of 139 Seven Springs St., husband of Margaret Ross Blakney, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008, on Overbrook Drive in Gaffney following an accident.

Born Jan. 11, 1949, in Hartsville, he was the son of Easter Mae Richardson Vinson of Gaffney and the late Isiah Blakney Sr. He was employed by the Cherokee County Solid Waste Department in Gaffney and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Blacksburg.

In addition to his father, Mr. Blakney was preceded in death by a son, Isiah Blakney II.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a daughter, Leslie S. Littlejohn of the home; a brother, Major Curry of Gaffney; two sisters, Mary Delores Brown of Gaffney and Barbara Rhodes of Patterson, N.J.; one grandchild and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held Saturday, June 14, at 12 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Van Williams and others officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
