Reid to work out for Kobe and Co.
      Gaffney's AZ Reid might be playing alongside reigning NBA MVP Kobe Bryant one day. The former Gaffney High basketball standout will be flying to Los Angeles to work out for the Lakers on June 17. The NBA draft is slated for June 28.

      This week, Gaffney American Legion Post 109 has resembled the 1927 New York Yankees, bludgeoning two opponents by a combined score of 32- 10. On Tuesday, Gaffney unleashed its latest offensive fury against Greer. Dylan Jolley, Lee Gerwick and McCrae Norton all had three hits in a 12-9 victory.

Burns Chevrolet tops Trojans in battle of unbeatens
      In the highlight game of the Cherokee County Youth Basketball League on Tuesday, the B&B Trojans waved good-bye to its winning streak. Dameian Jeter scored 11 points as Burns Chevrolet stayed unbeaten with a 37-33 win over the Trojans. Burns Chevrolet is now alone atop the Division II standings. O'Brian Davidson had 15 points in a losing cause.
