Mrs. Cook earned degrees in art from Limestone College and the University of South Carolina. She was an art teacher in two Spartanburg school districts and in the Cherokee County School District, retiring after 32 years. During her career, her students won numerous awards and she was named S.C. Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Cook is a member of the Spartanburg Artists Guild and the Cherokee Association of Visual Artists. She is married and has two daughters. An oil painter, she currently works in her studio in Gaffney and teaches private lessons. Her exhibit began June 1 and continues through June 27 in the CAVA Gallery at 301 N. Limestone St.
