Power restored shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday morning
Electric power was restored to between 1,500 and 2,000 Gaffney Board of Public Works customers yesterday around 9:10 a.m., about an hour after a switch at a Duke Energy power substation malfunctioned.
The outage affected customers in the College Park area of the city, Gaffney Board of Public Works General Manager Donnie Hardin said.
The outage occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Crews restored power by transferring those customers to another substation, according to Hardin.
The outage also disabled traffic signals and triggered burglar and fire alarms.
