Brown scores 20 as 76ers stay atop Division I standings
Jeff Brown scored 20 points as the 76ers remained unbeaten and atop the Division I standings with a 49-44 win over the Heat in the Cherokee County Youth Basketball League on Thursday.
DeEdward Burris had 13 points in a losing effort.
In the other games on Thursday, Shavon Bonner and Chase Smith each had 11 points to help One Time to a 54-29 win over the Kings; Paris Funderburke had 14 points as the Bearcats topped the Indians, 47-40; Mike Davidson had a team-high 14 points as the Lakers edged the Wolfpack, 38-31; and American Bank beat First Team Sports in a Division III game, 11-6.
In a Division III matchup on Friday, Edward Burris knocked down a shot at the buzzer to lead the Bulldogs past L&L Realty, 17-16. Edward Shippy had six points for L&L Realty.
In the other games on Friday, Jordan Crawford had a game-high 15 points to help Times Up to a 26- 10 victory over the Jayhawks; Chase Wright and Kendrick Lipscomb each had 12 points as the Clippers upset the Heat, 49-21; and C.J. Miller scored 12 points as One Time nipped the Wildcats, 39-37.
League play continues today and Tuesday at B.D. Lee Elementary School. There also will be games on Thursday and Friday this week.
