Lady Saints bolster hopes with 5-player recruiting class
Limestone College head women's basketball coach Corey Fox has announced the addition of five new players to the 2008-09 roster.
Eunice Gill, Jessica Hart, Lauren Pace, Whitney Todd and Brittney Miller will join the Lady Saints next season.
Eunice Gill, a 5-7 guard, comes to Limestone from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill. At Lincoln Land, Eunice averaged 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during her sophomore season.
"Eunice is a very athletic guard who can get to the rim as well as shoot the ball from the perimeter," Fox said. "We are very excited about signing Eunice, we expect her to be an impact player in this league."
Jessica Hart, a 6-0 forward from Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch, Ga., was her team's captain as a senior. She led her team in steals and free throw percentage.
"Jessica is a post player who gives us added size and rebounding," commented Fox. "She will be a welcome addition to our post game."
Lauren Pace, a 5- 3 guard from Collins Hill High School in Suwannee, Ga., helped her team capture the 2006- 07 state and national championships. As a starter, Pace served as team cocaptain during her senior season.
"Lauren is a point guard who is very quick and can really shoot the ball," Fox said. "We expect Lauren to come in here as a freshman and compete for playing time right away. She also gives us the added depth that we needed at the point guard spot after losing graduated senior Ariel Lyons. The coaching staff is excited to add Lauren to our program."
Whitney Todd, a 5-10 forward from New Albany, Ind., joins the Lady Saints after a very successful career at Danville Area Community College, where she was an All-Conference and All-Region player. She led her team in rebounds and field goal percentage and was named the Most Valuable Player at the Joliet Junior College Thanksgiving Tournament during her sophomore year.
"Whitney may be the most athletic player we have, she will give us another player who can play multiple positions and finish at the basket," Fox said. "Also, we expect her to be one of our best defenders and rebounders. I am looking forward to coaching Whitney for the next two years, we feel like her best basketball is in front of her."
Brittney Miller, a 5-9 guard from Indianapolis, Ind., was the Most Valuable Player at Roncalli High School.
"Brittney is a really good fit for our program, she plays hard all of the time and really loves to play," Fox said.
