Johnnie Gossett

Retired from textiles

Johnnie William Gossett, 95, of 331 E. Buford St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his residence.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the widower of Aileen Nash Gossett and son of the late Harvey Gossett and Lilly Blackwell Gossett. Mr. Gossett was retired from textiles and was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Larry Gossett and wife, Rita, of Gaffney; two brothers, Wells Gossett and Willis Gossett, both of Gaffney; a sister, Sadie Kirby of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Dana Brantley and husband, Bob, of Spartanburg, Susie Gossett of Gaffney and Travis Gossett and wife, Leanne, of Boiling Springs; and three greatgrandchildren, C.J. Gossett, Robert Brantley and Jonathan Brantley.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Gossett was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Gossett; two sisters, Lillian Jackson and Carrie Mott; and a brother, Jesse E. Gossett.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, from 2:30-4 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church. Services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Ham and Dr. Jim McClure officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Larry and Rita Gossett, 4221 Union Hwy.
