Troy Baker

Retired from Hamrick Mills Musgrove Plant

Troy Lee Baker, 70, of 153 Baker Road, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his residence.

Born in Buncombe County, N.C., he was the husband of Faye Conner Baker and son of the late John Edwin Baker and Myrtle Worley Baker. He was retired from Hamrick Mills Musgrove Plant and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Baker was a member of the Spartanburg Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael Edwin Baker and wife, Melanie, of Gaffney and Kevin Lee Baker and wife, Dawn, of Spartanburg; three brothers, Oliver Baker and wife, Mary, Cecil Baker and wife, Mari-le, and Carl Baker and wife, Grace, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Kathleen Smith and husband, Leo, of Charlotte, N.C., and Marlene Morgan and husband, Eddie, of Indian Trail, N.C.; four grandchildren, Megan Baker, Matthew Baker, Brandon Baker and wife, Holly, and Cameron Baker; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 21, from 2-4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Elder Jerry LaFave, Dr. Greg Little, Elder Jim Rochester and Dr. Bill Fehl. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Ark Youth Shelter, 9261 Fairforest Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.

The family will be at the residence.
