Post 109 will host league rival Union today at 7 p.m. Bryan Parsons is heating up just in time for Post 109.

Parsons had three hits and knocked in four runs to help Post 109 to an 8-6 win over Greer on Thursday.

"He is really starting to hit the ball for us," Gaffney coach Jeff Osment said. "At one time, he knocked in all of our runs."

Dustin Byars got the win with plenty of help from the Post 109 offense. McCrae Norton had three hits and John Michaels and Lee Gerwick each had two.

But the hitters weren't as sharp in the clutch, leaving 14 runners on base.

"We had 14 hits, so we hit the ball but we left too many on base," Osment said.

That was the reason Greer was close enough to tie the game at 5 with three runs in the eighth.

But Post 109 responded with three runs in the top of the ninth to seal the win.

Bobby Jackson opened the inning with a single before advancing to second on Spencer Epps' sacrifice bunt. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, Jackson scored on a passed ball to give Post 109 a 6-5 lead. Gerwick followed with a single to knock in two more runs.

Jason Biershenk pitched the ninth to earn a save.

Parsons staked Post 109 to a 2-0 lead when his first-inning RBI single knocked in Michaels and Gerwick. In the third, Parsons' single scored Norton, who had tripled.

Gaffney tallied single runs in the sixth and eigth to build a 5-2 lead.

Post 109 stepped out of league play Wednesday in a 3-1 loss at Commissioners Field to Shelby.

Bryan Parsons' doubled home Gaffney's only run of the game in the first inning.

Shelby tied the game in the second and took the lead for good with a run in the fourth. They added an insurance run in the fifth.

Gerwick led the way offensively with three hits for Post 109. Michael Hughey and Bubba Wright also hit safely for Post 109.
