Martha Ruth Childers Allen, 70, of 615 13th St., passed away Friday, June 27, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., she was the widow of Bobby Keith Allen and daughter of the late Clery Grady Childers and Lula Mae Henson Childers. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a son, Rick Allen of Duncan; a daughter, Marie Bowman and husband, Stewart, of Anderson, Mo.; two brothers, Jerry Childers and Wayne Childers, both of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Smith and Linda Moore, both of Rutherfordton, N.C.; six grandchildren, Keith Allen, Lacie Allen, Bobby Allen, Maranda Bowman, Jeremy Bowman and John Bowman; fiancé, Joe Hampton of Gaffney; and a special friend, Debra Wallace of Gaffney.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by two sons, David Allen and Michael Allen; two brothers, Johnny Childers and Grady Childers; and two sisters, Jane McAbee and Ida Mae Rice.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating.

Family members will be at their respective homes.
