Rev. Marvin Durham

Pastor of Tabernacle of Love in Chesnee for over 33 years

The Rev. Marvin Eugene Durham, 69, of 429 Sarratt Ave., went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Blacksburg, Rev. Durham was the husband of Martha White Durham and son of the late Dever Durham and Mary Parker Durham. He was pastor of Tabernacle of Love in Chesnee for over 33 years.

Also surviving are five sons, Johnny Smith, Billy Smith, Michael Durham and wife, Angela, of Gaffney, Marvin (Pete) Durham Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Chesnee and Guy Durham and wife, Jan, of Spartanburg; three daughters, Kathy Suddeth and husband, Dale, of Chesnee, Melissa Jackson of Greer and Tabitha Taylor and husband, Chris, of Gaffney; two brothers Roy Durham of Rock Hill and Fred Durham and wife, Maxine, of Myrtle Beach; five sisters, Lula Mae Peeler, Nancy Porter and husband, Henry, Ponice Willard, Pauline Ramsey and husband, Gaithern, of Gaffney and Betty Jean Bradley of Pacolet; 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Durham was preceded in death by a son Ken Durham; a sister, Ruby Sparks; a grandson, Jonathan Suddeth; and a brother, J. D. Durham.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle of Love, conducted by the Revs. Sidney Shuford, Sherry Moss and Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, July 1, from 7-9 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
