ACLU to open office in Charleston
      CHARLESTON - The American Civil Liberties Union is making a renewed effort to increase its visibility in South Carolina. The civil rights group says it's planning to open a new state headquarters in Charleston during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Bikers crowd Horry Council
      CONWAY - About 700 people attended the Horry County Council meeting, concerned about a topic the panel didn't even discuss. Supporters and opponents of the spring motorcycle rallies on the Grand Strand were at Tuesday's meeting, even though a proposed ban on those events was not on the agenda.

Winthrop tuition going up 8 percent
      ROCK HILL - Trustees at Winthrop University in Rock Hill have decided to raise tuition 8.3 percent for the coming school year. Trustees voted to increase the cost for undergraduate students form South Carolina by $425 per semester, to $5,530.
