ACLU to open office in Charleston

CHARLESTON - The American Civil Liberties Union is making a renewed effort to increase its visibility in South Carolina.

The civil rights group says it's planning to open a new state headquarters in Charleston during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Attorney Graham Boyd is going to serve as the ACLU's new interim executive director in South Carolina.

Boyd grew up in Spartanburg and has worked with the ACLU for ten years.

Boyd is expected to announce what activities the group is planning for South Carolina, including plans to solicit and respond to residents' opinions on civil liberties.
