Reunions

The Gaffney High School Class of 1998 is planning its 10-year reunion. Classmates are asked to send SASE to P.O. Box 1057, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

Descendants of Rachel Baxter and Wright Byers will have a family reunion Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Events will conclude Sunday, Aug 3, at 10:45 a.m. with worship services at Shady Grove. Cost is $30 per individual family to cover the cost of the meal, drinks, rental of the activity building and outdoor "Fun Park" for children. Bring a favorite dessert. Bible Schools

Midway Baptist Church, 153 Midway Road, will have Vacation Bible School July 13-16 from 5:30-8 p.m. The theme is "Outrigger Island - Living God's Unshakable Truth."

Church news

Gethsemane Baptist Church, 190 Beech St., Pacolet, will have a one-day revival Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Myrondous Washington, pastor and founder of Agape Global Church, Atlanta, Ga. For more information, call 864-474-2110.

New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St., will have a homecoming revival July 11- 13. Missionaries Wayne and Doris Pressley of Canton, N.C., will be ministering. Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Everyone welcome.

Central Baptist Church, 500 E. Montgomery St., is hosting its second annual All American Sunday on July 13, during which time all public servants will be honored. Civil servants including fire, police, EMS, nurse, armed forces, etc., are encouraged to attend and wear their uniform. A meal featuring barbecue and chicken will be served after the service. Everyone welcome.

The Missionary Department Way of Life Praise and Worship Center Inc., 1320 Old Georgia Hwy., will sponsor a service Sunday, July 13, at 5 p.m. Guest speaker will be Juanita Dewberry, associate minister of Bethel Baptist church.

White Plains Baptist Church will celebrate the anniversary of its pastor and first lady on Sunday, July 13, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Ralph Reid and Lewis Chapel Baptist Church will be special guests. Everyone welcome.

Way of Life Praise and Worship Center Inc., 1320 Old Georgia Hwy., will have revival services July 9-11. Guest speakers will be Pastor Renea Glenn of Life Center Ministries, Greenville, and Pastor Bradley Moss of Victory Outreach Family Worship Center, Statesville, N.C.

Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1809 Old Post road, will have a fish fry, bake sale, car wash and yard sale Saturday, July 12, beginning at 7 a.m. The public is invited to come enjoy good food and fellowship.

Freedom Fest 2008 will be sponsored by Trinity Church of the Living God in Cherryville, N.C., on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until. Bring a lawn chair or sit under a large picnic shelter. Events include an all-day gospel singing, a MoonWalk, car/motorcycle cruise in and yard sale. Barbecue pork, barbecue chicken and hot dog plates will be sold for $5. To reach the church, take Hwy. 74 By-pass to Hwy. 216; go two miles toward Cherryville; the church is beside the Shell gas station.

Cherokee County native Tom Wheeler will perform a Music Sandwiched-In concert today, July 9, at the Cherokee County Public Library. The show will last from 12:15-1 p.m. and a free lunch will be provided by the Friends of the Library.
