Police said the robber's clothing was torn during a struggle with a store employee and the photos purport to show the robber both before and after the struggle. The Gaffney Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in helping to identify and locate a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last Wednesday inside a West Floyd Baker Boulevard discount store.

According to police, the unidentified robber was inside the Dollar General Store at 9:14 p.m. when he asked a store employee for assistance and then brandished a silver handgun. Police said he pointed the gun at the employee and then said, "Let's go to the back."

The robber reportedly assaulted the employee as the employee tried to call police and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, police said the store employee pulled the robber's coat over his head and tore his clothing.

Still photos from security camera footage released by police Tuesday show the robber both before and after his struggle with the employee.

Described as a 20- to 25- year-old black male about 6- feet tall, the robber was wearing a black coat, white T-shirt and a red baseball cap when he entered the store.

It is believed he fled the store in a white Ford sport utility vehicle.

Police said the man should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Gaffney Police Department at (864) 489-8115, or 911.
