Jackie Mathis

COWPENS - Jackie Wayne Mathis, 50, of Wallace Road, went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of Harold Mathis of Gaffney and the late Ella Nora Goforth Parker. Mr. Mathis was employed by Wabtec Manufacturing in Duncan and formerly attended Goucher Baptist Church in Gaffney.

Surviving in addition to his father are four sisters Scarlott Fowler and Connie Scruggs, both of Gaffney, Renee Chapman and Janine Guy, both of Spartanburg.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Norman Gardner and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Friends were received at the graveside following the service.

Family members are at their respective homes.
