Miss Strain, Mr. Bridges wed May 10

MR. AND MRS. SHANNON WAYNE BRIDGES MR. AND MRS. SHANNON WAYNE BRIDGES Wendy Michelle Strain of Gaffney and Shannon Wayne Bridges of Mooresboro, N.C., exchanged marriage vows Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Lavonia Baptist Church in Mooresboro, N.C. The Rev. Harold Bradley conducted the 4 p.m. double ring ceremony.

Music was provided by Sharon Cooper, organist, and Amy Wyatt, vocalist. Selections included "Only God Could Love You More" and "When God Made You."

The sanctuary was adorned with arrangements of pink carnations, blue hydrangea, blue thistle and greenery along with a profusion of ferns. White candles in hurricane globes surrounded with greenery were placed in the windows and fuchsia bows trimmed some pews.

Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white ballgown featuring a halter neckline and chapel train detailed with beaded lace. A large bow accented the back waistline. Her one-layer veil of illusion was accented with beading and fell from a beaded tiara. She carried stargazer lilies, pink carnations, blue thistle and pink roses with the stems wrapped with the bride's great-grandmother's pearls.

Elizabeth Strain of Gaffney attended her sister as maid of honor while Amy Wyatt of Gaffney, aunt of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miranda Bridges, sister-inlaw of the groom, of Shelby; Tabatha Strain, sister-in-law of the bride, of Gaffney; and Mandy Ellis, cousin of the bride, of Mooresboro. Junior bridesmaids were Makaila Patterson, niece of the bride, Ameris Wyatt and Savannah Mullinax, cousins of the bride, all of Gaffney.

The attendants wore fuchsia AMiss line gowns and carried bouquets of blue hydrangea, pink carnations, greenery and blue thistle.

Alexis Strain, niece of the bride, of Gaffney served as flower girl . She wore a light pink floor-length dress and carried pink rose petals.

Spencer Strain, brother of the bride, of Gaffney was the ring bearer.

The groom was attended by his father as best man. Groomsmen were Jacob Bridges, brother of the groom, of Shelby; Robbie Strain, brother of the bride, of Gaffney; and Timothy Atkins, cousin of the bride, of Lattimore, N.C. Junior groomsmen were Vince Hancock cousin of the groom, of Mooresboro, N.C., and Russell Strain, nephew of the bride, of Gaffney.

Programs were distributed by Michelle Ellis, cousin of the bride. Deb Ellis, aunt of the bride, was the wedding director.

The bride is the daughter of Fulton and Becky Strain of Gaffney. Her grandparents are Billy and Barbara Strain of Gaffney and Larry and Shirley Ellis of Mooresboro. A 2003 graduate of Gaffney High School, she will graduate in July from Spartanburg Community Collage as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant.

The groom is the son of Rick and Cynthia Bridges of Mooresboro, N.C., and grandson of Mary Jo and Robert Whisnant of Ellenboro, N.C., the late Guy Bridges and the late Opal and Estelle Earls. A 1998 graduate of Crest High School, he received a degree in advertising and graphic design in 2001 from Isothermal Community College and is employed by Commercial Engraving in Greenville.

Mr. and Mrs. Bridges are making their home in Mooresboro after a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Grassy Pond Fire Department.

The grandmother of the bride, Barbara Strain, and aunt of the bride, Tammie Atkins, were hostesses for a rehearsal dinner at Bethel Memorial Baptist Church.

Many showers were given for the couple by family and friends.
