WHAT'S UP Fund raisers The Senior Centers of Cherokee County will be holding a fund raiser this weekend for the Blacksburg Senior Center renovations. A yard sale will be held at the Blacksburg center, 109 Brugg St., on Thursday, July 17, and Friday, July 18, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and then on Saturday, July 19, from 8-11 a.m. A yard sale will be held at the Gaffney center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Friday, July 18, from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, July 19, from 7-10 a.m. A variety of items are on sale at both locations. Donations will also be accepted for this project. For more information, call 487-2725. Meetings Moses Wood Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its regular meeting July 17 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mark Vogl from Big Sandy, Texas. His topic will be "I Will Pay That Sum," written by Robert E. Lee. Come early if you plan to eat. All members are urged to attend and the public is invited. Bible schools Vacation Bible School will be held July 20-25 at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, from 6-8 p.m. The theme is "God's Big Back Yard." Classes will be provided for preschool through youth. No nursery will be provided. Church news Annual Women's Day will be observed at Dunton United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 20, during the 11:15 a.m. worship service. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Anitonette Gardner of Radio Station WFGN (1180 AM). She is an associate minister at Mount Tabor Baptist Church and daughter of Frank and Marva Littlejohn. Suck Creek Baptist Church will be in revival July 20-22. Services will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Milfred Brock Sr., Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Pauline, and the Mt. Pleasant Church family as guests. Services will be held Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Guest evangelist for these evenings will be Bishop Randy Borders, formerly of Gaffney and now pastor of Faith Harvest Church Ministries in Shelby. Shady Grove Church will have Armed Forces Recognition Day on Sunday, July 20, during the 11 a.m. worship service for members who have served or are presently protecting the freedom of all Americans. Members who are serving or have served are urged to contact Deacon Lucious Jones. Special recognition will be given. The Shady Grove Baptist Church Youth Ministry will have its monthly Youth Day service on Sunday, July 20. Pastor Lee Byers will deliver the message. The Shady Grove Primary Class will be in charge of all activ- ities beginning with Sunday School at 9:45. The Shady Grove Youth Singers will provide special music. Shakila and Darrett Lattimore are the Primary Class teachers and program coordinators. The Pastor's Aide of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to attend the fourth anniversary celebration of Pastor Michael L. Golden on Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Coleman, pastor of Hoppers Chapel Baptist Church, Shelby. Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday night singing July 19 at 7 p. Guests will be The Bluegrass Gospel, In His Glory and The Hamptons. Class reunions The Gaffney High School Class of 1998 is planning its 10-year reunion. Classmates are asked to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 1057, Gaffney, S.C. 29342. The Gaffney High School Class of 1978 is planning its 30-year reunion on Oct. 18 at the Gaffney Elks Lodge from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. Cost is $50 per couple or $25 for single, cash bar only.
