Gaffney woman's grandson completes basic
Army Pvt. Joshua Potter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., as a Distinguished Honor Graduate and received a Letter of Commendation.
During his nine weeks of basic combat training, Potter studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Potter, a cannon crewmember, is the grandson of Julia Moore of Gaffney. His brother, Alex Potter, lives in Loveland,
Colo. He is a 2008 graduate of the Trapper Creek Job Corps Center, Darby, Mont.
