Wando students
sentencing delayed
CHARLESTON - A judge in Charleston has delayed the sentencing for some Wando High School students arrested for their role in a 2006 grocery store holdup.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday that Circuit Judge Roger Young delayed the sentencing in order to attend the funeral for Circuit Judge James W. Johnson Jr. of Clinton.
The teens charged with acting as lookouts were to be sentenced Tuesday. Last year, they pleaded guilty to charges that included conspiracy to commit armed robbery and accessory after the fact.
Over about a week, prosecutors say the teens robbed a Food Lion grocery store, stole a $35,000 BMW and held up a Subway sandwich shop at gunpoint.
Two teens accused of taking lead roles in the spree have already each been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Clemson University Fire Chief Bill Shivar says flames were coming through the roof early Tuesday morning at the Center of Faith Community Church.
Shivar says the cause of the fire has not been determined. But he says there is no indication of foul play.
The Rev. Jannie Acker says the church will be OK and will find somewhere to hold services.
