Lydia Borders Johnson Gregory, 79, of 153 Concord Road, died Wednesday, June 16, 2008, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Widow of Aaron Johnson Sr. and widow of William Gregory, she was born in Cleveland County, N.C., a daughter of the late Judge Borders Sr. and Katie Moore Borders. She was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Verdie Mae Degree of Shelby, N.C., Sarah Williams (Frazier), Selma Phillips (Rufus), both of Gaffney, Katie Sarratt (John) of Mooresboro, N.C., and Terri Covington (Charles) of Madison, Wisc.; eight sons, William Hopper of Greenville, Aaron Johnson Jr., of Brunswick, N.C., Jesse, Matthew, Grover, Charles, Ricky, and Clarence Gregory, all of Gaffney; three sisters, Margie Brooks of Springfield, Colo., Mary Byers of Shelby and Verline Petty of Henrietta, N.C.; a brother, James Borders of Shelby; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, June 21, at 3 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Parks officiating and the Rev. Warren Manning delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
