Man faces drug charges

Sherrick Labrandon Tate, 20, of 100 Vestus Road, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute within proximity of a playground, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.

The report states Tate had approximately eight ounces of marijuana with him at the time of his arrest.

Gaffney police were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Winchester Drive in response to a call regarding a physical confrontation.

Daryl Gibbs, 49, of 608 Winchester Drive, is charged with assault and battery, according to a police report.

According to the report, Gibbs is accused of striking a woman in the face several times.

The report states the woman was standing in a neighbor's driveway with blood on her face and injuries to her nose and mouth.

Gibbs was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Authorities are looking into the theft of several copper based items from a Magnolia Street home.

Between July 14 and 16, someone was able to cut and remove water pipe and electrical wire from underneath the residence. An electric meter was also reported missing.

Damages are valued at $800.

Two women were charged Wednesday with shoplifting, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.

The two are identified in a police report as Courtney Raven Smith, of Cowpens, and Jessica Bree Ford, of 1003 Frederick St., both 18.

A Wal-Mart employee claims in the report the women deliberately tried to leave the store without paying for items.
