Building inspector still in hospital

City of Gaffney Building Inspector Donald Elder remains in serious condition in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a Wednesday traffic accident.

Elder's vehicle was struck in the side by a Gaffney man who faces charges of felony driving under the influence and simple possession of marijuana, according to authorities.

A witness told police that Frederick Antwan Marks, 35, of 313 Parris St., ran a stop sign and struck Elder's vehicle.

Elder was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with head and lung injuries.
