Bobby Gibson
Born in Jonesville, Va., he was the husband of Geneiveive "Jay" Black Gibson and son of the late William Gibson and Goldie Quillen Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a retired tractortrailer driver, a U.S. Army veteran and attended Restoration Church. In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Sharon Lynn Carroll and husband, Vernon Dean, of Gaffney; a grandson, Robert Dean (D.J.) Carroll, who was affectionately referred to as "Pop Pops Peanut" by his grandfather; four brothers, Olin Gibson and Doug Gibson of Gaffney, Jerry Gibson of Pacolet and Carl Gibson of Florida; four sisters, Ruth Pochodzay of Union, Betty Scobey of Michigan, Allene Lindsay of Tennessee and Nancy Ward of Gaffney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Viola Gibson; a son, Robert Andrew Gibson; and seven brothers and sisters. Services will be held Monday, July 21, at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Goucher Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Jack E. Daniel, Chapter 54, P.O.
