William E. Winter, Jr.
Born in Altoona, Pa., he was the husband of Carla Cooper Winter and son of William Edward Winter Sr. of Fripp Island and the late Virginia Ann Woodcock Winter. He was an attorney and partner with the law firm Winter & Rhoden. He began his law practice in Gaffney in 1973 and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Washington and Lee University. Mr. Winter was a retired colonel in the United States Army Reserve and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation of Gaffney. In addition to his wife and father, surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth W. Forbes and husband, Zeb, and Ann W. Meade and husband, Kyle, all of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Patty Crower and husband, Jim, of Port Royal and Barbara Park and husband, George, of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Savannah Forbes, Cooper Forbes and Sarah Meade, all of Charlotte. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive, with the Rev. Wayman Henry and Dr. Jim McClure officiating.
