Raymond Jolly

Retired from Duke Energy

Raymond Lamar Jolly, 85, of 272 Allison Creek Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2008. at his residence.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the widower of Gracie Mosley Jolly and son of the late Boyce Brivette Jolly and Minnie Maude Allison Jolly. Mr. Jolly was retired

from Duke Energy

and was a member

of Providence Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving with the Seabees in World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was a Mason with the Granard Lodge 186.

He is survived by a son, Dale Jolly and wife, Brenda, of Gaffney; a daughter, Gay Snellings and husband, Dale, of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Chuck Gordon and wife, Amanda, Brad Jolly and wife, Jenny, Alyson Pearson and husband, Mike, all of Gaffney, Josh Snellings of Bluffton and Tracy Pavlish and husband, Scott, of Charlotte; eight greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Martha Jean Morgan and husband, Jack, of Gaffney.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jolly was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Lester.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Scott Peterson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Providence Baptist Church, 822 Providence Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

The family will be at the home of Dale and Gay Snellings, 302 Allison Creek Road.
