Church news

New Trinity Christian Fellowship Ministries, 711 Cherokee Ave., will have its first Community Love Fellowship on Saturday, July 26, at the Boys and Girls Club, 201 Pecan St. There will be food, fun and fellowship from 4-6 p.m. The Ministries' pastor and founder is A. Sherman Davis while the co-visionary is Lady Patricia Davis.

Shady Grove Baptist Church will have its annual Mother's Day program Sunday, July 27, during the 11 a.m. worship service Guest speaker will be the Rev. Doris Mauney, associate minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

An ordination service for the Rev. Timothy Hunter, associate minister of Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road, Cowpens, will be held Saturday, July 26, at 5:30 p.m. Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., pastor, will deliver the message and music will be provided by the church choir.

Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 111 Sycamore St., will sell fresh fried fish and hot dogs on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the church basement. The fund raiser is sponsored by the church's Class No. 6.

Holy Trinity Righteous Church of God, 210 Claremont St., will have a benefit program Saturday, July 26, from 2-6 p.m. sponsored by The Bridges Family. For more information, call 864-812-1236 or 864-425-9093.

Annual revival services will be held Aug. 3-7 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1809 Old Post Road. The revival will begin with homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Coleman, pastor of Hoppers Chapel Baptist Church, Shelby. Nightly services will be at 7. Guest evangelist for the week will be the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Tate, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Goldsboro, N.C.

The Pastor's Aide Ministry of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor its annual program Sunday, July 27, at 4 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. Stephen Lomax, pastor of New Life in Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Fountain Inn.

The Missionary Circle of Philadelphia Baptist Church, 1195 Pacolet Hwy., will sponsor a "Fill-A-Pew" rally Sunday, July 27, at 3 p.m. The program will feature five of the church's young adults - Antonio Lipscomb, Whitney Gaffney, Brittany Smith, Mayi Hawk and Keith Gibbs.

Pastor A. Sherman Davis, Patricia Davis and the church family at New Trinity Christian Fellowship welcome the public to join them as they seek new dimensions in Christ. New Trinity Fellowship is located at 711 Cherokee Ave. For more information, call 864-488-2525.

Allen Bruton, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Greer. Speaker for the week night services will be the Rev. Charles ("J'.J.") Jackson III, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Spartanburg.

Fund raisers

Granard High School Class of 1962 is sponsoring a big yard sale, fish fry and hot dog sale Saturday, July 26, beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hut on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. DVDs from the class trip to Charleston will also be for sale.

Gospel singings

The first MasterPraise Homecoming Sing will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 606 S. Dekalb St., Shelby. Featured will be Ricky Atkinson, MasterPraise, Cross Reference and Providence. For more information, call 704-477-7620.

True Gospel Independent Baptist Church on Pondfield Road will have a singing Saturday, July 26, at 7 p.m. featuring Bluegrass Inspiration.

Chesnee Gospel Music Center, 674 Green Lake Road, Chesnee, will have a singing Saturday, July 26, featuring the Green River Boys of Columbus, N.C. For more information, call 828-223-1514.

Harris First Baptist Church will have a singing Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m. featuring the Jimmy Justice Family of Hendersonville, N.C.

Cathy Schwartz will present a concert Sunday, July 27, at 6 p.m. at Cowpens First Baptist Church. Daughter of Pastor McGee and Jo, she will be playing the handbells (2 octaves), mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer and piano and share her testimony. She has shared her ministry over 700 times in churches, associations, retirement centers, etc. throughout the southeast. There will be no love offering.

Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Cherokee County Development Board will be held Monday, July 28, at noon in the board room at the Spartanburg Community College Cherokee Campus.

Class reunions

The Gaffney High School Class of 1998 is planning its 10-year reunion. Classmates are asked to send a selfaddressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 1057, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

The Gaffney High School Class of 1978 is planning its 30-year reunion on Oct. 18 at the Gaffney Elks Lodge from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. Cost is $50 per couple or $25 for single, cash bar only. Special events

A street dance will be held Thursday, July 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m. across the street from the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department. The event is co-sponsored by the Palmetto Bank and the Town of Blacksburg. The Iron City Band will provide the music.
