Angry motorist attacks pedestrian

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early Wednesday morning incident during which a 34-year-old man walking along Old Georgia Highway allegedly was assaulted by an angry motorist.

According to a police report, a 34-year-old Seminole Trail man was walking along the highway with his girlfriend when a car almost hit them. The man reportedly yelled toward the vehicle, described as a dark-colored 1990s model similar to a Mazda.

The driver of the vehicle, described as a 34- to 35-yearold white male, 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with black hair, allegedly stopped his car, got out and assaulted the pedestrian.

Police said the 34-year-old victim sustained a 10-cm cut on his neck during the incident and was treated at Upstate Carolina Medical Center's emergency room.

A South Logan Street collision repair business sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage Tuesday evening when a runaway car struck the side of a building.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, a 64- year-old Lincoln Street man had exited his 1990 Plymouth at a nearby gas pump in order to pay for his gasoline. While he was inside the gas station, the man's car rolled away into the side of Woody's Collision and Transmission. Police said the man's vehicle had not been placed in park.

The car sustained about $300 in damage.

The Gaffney Police Department reported the arrest of a Villa drive man following a Tuesday evening traffic stop after they found a loaded handgun in his vehicle, according to a police report.

The report states police stopped Jonathan N. Reid, 30, at about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday after they allegedly observed him driving backwards on a one-way street.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police said they found a loaded Hi- Point 9mm handgun in a pouch on the back of the front passenger seat.

An 18-year-old Gaffney man was arrested Tuesday evening for breaking arrest and two separate counts of trespassing after notice.

According to a police report, an officer was dispatched to Limestone Courts on North Limestone Street at about 9:35 Tuesday regarding a report that Jamarcus Gregory, of 9th Street, was trespassing on the property. The officer wrote in a report that he observed Gregory near an apartment and that Gregory fled on foot when the officer attempted to talk with him. Gregory allegedly refused commands to stop when told he was under arrest. Police arrested Gregory at 11:17 p.m. when they found him near another apartment at the housing complex. His bond was set at $470 on each of the three charges, according to Cherokee County Detention Center records.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a thief with a fresh coat of paint.

According to a police report, about $300 worth of pearl gray house paint and a black Charbroil grill were stolen from a Cliffside Highway home between July 21 and July 22 during a breakin. Theft losses totaled about $500, according to police.

A Pacolet homeowner is missing two wrought iron gates from his driveway.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the two gates, valued at about $5,000, were stolen from the property in the 900 block of Quarter Round Road between 7:30 p.m. July 21 and 8:20 a.m. July 22. Police did not include a description of the gates in the police report.

About $1,300 in electronics was stolen from a Sarratt Creek Road residence during a recent burglary.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone broke into the home between July 15 and July 22 through a back door. The thief or thieves stole a Dell computer, a Zoom digital television recorder and a television from the home.
