Dr. Crews special guest Sunday at West End

Former East Gaffney pastor

Dr. William Crews Dr. William Crews Dr. William Crews will be special guest speaker Sunday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. at West End Baptist Church.

Dr. Crews is a great expository preacher and teacher of the Scriptures. He holds six earned degrees, two of them doctorates, has pastored six churches and also served as a seminary professor.

He was pastor of East Gaffney Baptist Church from 1983 to 1988 and says he is looking forward to seeing many old friends.

Dr. Crews has had radio and television ministries for over 30 years. He is seen on television with his ministry program The Awakening Hour, which airs on 150 U.S. stations and in another 170 countries.

In addition, he has written over 50 booklets on religious subjects.

Dr. Crews received a B.A. degree from Lexington Baptist College in 1961 and received his Master of Arts from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. He earned his Bachelor of Divinity in 1965 from Bible Baptist Seminary and holds a Doctor of Theology from Immanuel School of Theology in Atlanta, graduating in 1968, and a Doctor of Ministry from one of the most prestigious seminaries in the country, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., graduating in 1982. He also holds a Master of Arts from North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Dr. Crews has also done post-doctoral study at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

His honorary degrees include a Doctor of Literature from Florida Research Institute and a Doctor of Sacred Theology from Sacramento Baptist Seminary.

Dr. Crews and his wife, Freda, are both licensed pilots with a twin engine rating and fly to speaking engagements across the country. Dr. Freda Crews also has two earned doctorates and is a professional Christian counselor and psychotherapist.

Dr. Crews was born in Lake Butler, Fla., and his wife is also a Florida native. The couple reside in Spartanburg and have three children, Terrie L. Moyer, William Crews Jr. and Rachel Buckley.

Dr. Crews was ordained to the ministry in 1957 by Grace Ministry Baptist Church in Newark, Texas. In addition to East Gaffney Baptist Church, he served as pastor of Marlbrook Baptist Church, Belvins, Ark., First Baptist Church, Putney, Albany, Ga., Turner City Baptist Church, Albany, Ga., Hillcrest Baptist Church, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Calvary Baptist Church, Spartanburg.

He was listed in Outstanding Young Men of America in 1970, Outstanding Personalities of the South in 1973, Who's Who in Religion in 1985.
