Signup is now underway for anyone ages 4-12 who wants to play Gaffney Little League football.

Bring a birth certificate to Sagesport, Shoe Show or the Cherokee County Recreation Department. The deadline is Aug. 9.

Granard football

practice starts

Aug. 12

Granard Middle School will begin football practice Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Players must have a physical performed by their family physician. Physical forms are available at the school office.

Players should wear shorts, tennis shoes and a T-shirt to each practice.

Softball team

GHS 9th grade football practice

begins Aug. 8

The Gaffney High ninth grade football team will start practice Friday, Aug. 8 at 9 a.m.

Rising ninth grade football players should report to the Gaffney High locker room where helmets and shoulder pads will be issued. Bring shorts and cleats for practice.

Players must bring a physical form and a copy of their birth certificate.

The school is looking for a student manager for the Gaffney High ninth grade team, coach David Reams said. Students should be trustworthy, dependable and be able to attend all team activities.

Gaffney XC practice

starts Aug.4

Gaffney High boys and girls cross country teams will start their regular season practice Monday, Aug. 4. Interested students should report for practice at 7 a.m. at the new Gaffney High School track. Dress in running gear. Gamecock Club

banquet Aug. 12

The Cherokee County Gamecock Club's fall banquet will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the Stephenson Dining Hall at Limestone College.

Dinner begins at 6 p.m.

Current play-by-play announcer and former quarterback Todd Ellis wil be the guest speaker for the event.

Gamecock Club administrative staff will also be present to answer questions.

An auction will be held during the event, with eight season tickets and four tickets to this year's game vs. Clemson up for grabs.

Friends of Carolina will recognize this year's scholarship winners.

Tickets are $15 and must be purchased at Sub Station II, Harold's Restaurant and Dr. Hank Jolly's office, or by calling Mike Phillips at 812-1487, Ed Poole at 489-8746, or Randy Hammett at 489-3839, or by email at gamecocks@cherokeegamecockclub. com.

Limestone donates funds to

Make-A-Wish

Foundation

Limestone College contributed $1,128.31 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in coordination with NCAA Division II's national fundraising campaign.

The Saints student-athlete advisory committee raised $628.31 through a year-long change drive and $500 was donated by the Lady Saints lacrosse team from its Goal-a-Thon fundraiser.

Limestone's contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation also helped Conference Carolinas finish second among Division II conferences in money raised as the league raised $17,794.
