Fund raiser

The Brotherhood of Midway Baptist Church will hold a fund raiser for missions on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 5-7 p.m. in the church's Family Life Center. The menu includes hamburger steak, baked potato, salad, dessert and tea. Eat-in or take-out. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any member of the Midway Brotherhood or at the church office, 153 Midway Road.

Community events

Life Line Screening will be in Gaffney at Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road, on Monday, Aug. 18. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m. Register for the stroke, vascular disease and heart rhythm screenings for $139 and osteoporosis for an additional $10. Pre-registration is required. Education

B.D. Lee Elementary School will have back-toschool orientation Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. Class rolls will be available for parents and the following fees can be handled at orientation: activity fees, $5, and kindergarten August snack fee, $5. The PTO will sell school decals for $3.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
