Cherokee school district 6 candidate issues statement
I am Jamie Martin, candi- date for school trustee in District 6. I am the son of the late Willard and Carolyn Martin. I was born and raised in Rose Hill Park and still live there. I am married to April for 18 years. We have four sons, three of which currently attend school while one is not yet of age. As you see, I have a vested interest in the educational system of Cherokee County.
I cannot make empty promises of what I can accomplish if elected. However, I can tell you my concerns. I am concerned about drug testing. I feel as though for the safety of our children as well as the quality of their education, there must be preventative measures taken.
I also am concerned with making sure we operate as cost effective as possible. I spent several years with a local government agency which taught me the value of bidding jobs. We do not need to cut corners. Just costs. I am also concerned about communication. As a pastor, I have gained by listening. If elected, I will not only look at what needs to be seen, but listen to what is being seen by the people who entrusted me with this great responsibility.
I would just like to thank you for considering me for school trustee. I am excited about the opportunity to strive forward for the of our children. Remember, when you make your choice for school trustee, there is a right way to do the right thing.
